Ponder…the Bumblebee

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn’t be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn’t know that so it goes on flying anyway.
- Mary Kay Ash

Makes me wonder what we’d do if we were more like bumblebees…not knowing that we weren’t supposed to do certain things or that we shouldn’t be able to do them.  Would we attempt the “impossible?” Would we risk more? Make the phone call we’ve been afraid to make? Have the conversation we’ve been keeping bottled up? Pursue a dream? Dream bigger? Overcome fear? Actually do what we were created to do in the first place?

Ponder…the Future

The future is a bridge you don’t have to cross this moment.
And which, when it arrives, will simply be a fact of life and not a spooky idea at the horizon.
- Renate Rubinstein

Puts things into a bit of perspective doesn’t it?

Ponder…Success

Judge your success by what you had to give up to get it.
-Dalai Lama

That makes me think. It reminds me to always remember what’s important as I chase goals. If I reach my goals but slaughter relationships in the process I think I’ve failed.

Ponder…Moments

“Occasionally in life there are those moments of unutterable fulfillment which cannot be completely explained by those symbols called words. Their meanings can only be articulated by the inaudible language of the heart.” — Martin Luther King, Jr.

A great conversation with a friend that gets to the heart.
A stunningly beautiful sunset.
A good cup of coffee.
A kind though unfamiliar face.
Showing love to a stranger.

I’ve had several of those moments in the last two weeks. And I am deeply grateful for every one of them. They are the moments when all seems right with the world and my heart smiles unable to contain the joy.

What are those moments in your life? Do you recognize them? Do you savor them?

Ponder…Like a Child

I’ll be honest, I really love children’s books. Sometimes I think their author’s have a way of simplifying life in a beautiful way. I found “Is There Really a Human Race?” by Jamie Lee Curtis in my collection the other day and loved this part:

“Sometimes it’s better not to go so fast.
There are beautiful sights to be seen when you’re last.

Shouldn’t it be that you just try your best?
And that’s more important than beating the rest?

Shouldn’t it be looking back at the end
that you judge your own race by the help that you lend?

So, take what’s inside you and make big, bold choices,
And for those who can’t speak for themselves, use BOLD voices.

And make friends and love well, bring art to this place,
And make the world better for the whole human race.”

Slow down. Be you. Love people.
